Not wanting to do any more urban riding, I waited until rush hour was over, then took my bike onto the BART and headed down to Millbrae, then headed towards home along the bayshore (SF2G route).
I stopped in Redwood Shores and ate lunch with Irene at Oracle.
And an uneventful afternoon's ride later, I was back at home!
