Prologue

15 June 2010

Roberto Peon emailed on the afternoon before we left to say that he wouldn't be able to go to Europe— doctor's orders, on account of his hip injury.

So, the morning of, I drove Cynthia and Kekoa (and all our bikes and baggage) to SFO. We ran into an early-morning traffic jam on Hwy 101— some live wires had fallen onto the road not 200 feet ahead of where we stopped. However, we got to the airport on time and had an uneventful flight to Munich (with a layover in Toronto), arriving the next morning at around 8am.
